Welcome back, intrepid voyeurs! In about five weeks, Shelley and I will be taking off for China and Southeast Asia. Shelley's daughter Abbey has been teaching in China for the last ten months, and it's time for us to once again "pick her up from school."
We will be travelling first to Beijing, then Xi'an, before meeting Abbey in Sanya on the island of Hainan in the South China Sea. Hainan has been referred to as the "Hawaii of China." The beaches on the island's south end is where we will reunite and celebrate Abbey's birthday.
After leaving Sanya, our trip continues to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Hanoi (Vietnam), and Hong Kong.
June/July tends to be warm in the Southeast Asia countries - check out the early morning temperatures in the screen grab from my weather app. You may think "80 degrees sounds pleasant," but think again - that is the temperature at 4 and 5 am, as in BEFORE DAWN! If the overnight temperature hovers in the 70s, I shudder to think of what it will be at 5 pm! Oh well, I haven't melted yet.
Check back after June 17 - that's when the fun really starts.
